Every Friday lunchtime at Corporate Edge is dedicated to a companywide session that we call 'Class Act'; a chance for us to get together, listen to, speak with and learn from interesting people. It's all about furthering our knowledge (and having some fun at the same time!) - not just within our specific areas of work, but across wider communication, creativity, technology and innovation disciplines. Diversity of experience is crucial for our success (on both an individual and group level). Only by bringing a broad perspective to our life (both professionally and personally) are we able to find appropriate answers the questions and challenges we encounter along the way.

We've been lucky enough to have an array of thought leaders, gurus and experts covering areas as diverse as digital innovation, employee engagement, content creation, retail psychology, political commentary, advertising, UX and sonic branding. We've also enjoyed some fascinating sessions run by the Corporate Edge team themselves.

In December, while we plan next year's Class Act series, we decided to do something different with our Friday lunch 'spare time'. In the spirit of Christmas we agreed to do something that on a simple level would 'give something back'. We discussed ideas ranging from that truly philanthropic to the downright ridiculous, and finally decided on something quite simple that would put a smile on peoples faces.

As a popular creative agency 'destination', lot's of people cycle in / to Farringdon and Clerkenwell (including many of us here in the office). With the winter weather finally closing in, we decided to create a simple bike seat cover (made from a basic shower cap) to keep both bike saddles and bottoms dry in the rain.

We've had great fun creating the covers; choosing the shower-caps, designing the stickers, copy and hashtag (#xmasdryride), and when you compare our simple covers to the basic alternative (supermarket plastic bags - see below), we believe that in a small way, we'll be adding to the Christmas spirit - adding a touch of surprise and delight to strangers' lives this festive season.
